Kudo’s to the over 100 Comcast Cares volunteers who helped clean up the YMCA on Saturday. “For us it’s really about the community. This is a day we try to give back to our community,” said Dan Bonelli, the vice president of finance for Comcast. Jessica Forrest, the senior communications specialist for the company, agreed. “For Comcast and a lot of our employees it’s about giving back,” said Forrest. “It’s always been one of our corporate initiatives.” Now to my point, Comcast is one of several internet/TV/media giants that have a choke hold on the market. There is NO real consumer choice for services because there are only a few companies, e.g., Comcast, Cox, Frontier, Dish that offer services to specific areas. Needless to say, the prices these companies charge for services is unreasonable and corporate profit motivated. If these companies really want to “give back” to the community/customer then they should lower their rates and put customers/people before profits.
