Dear Editor,

The greater New Britain community mourns the death of Joe Gustin. He was a man of great energy and talent, and he was a leader in a community that needed great leaders. He was an unequaled force in the real estate sales industry, performing at the top at local, state, and national levels while always being committed to taking good care of his buyers and sellers. With the Knights of Columbus and at the Church of the Holy Spirit, he served his fellow men and women and his God.

Helping the average person sell or buy a house is far from being an easy job. These transactions frequently raise people to their highest levels of fear, doubt, and hesitancy. Joe Gustin knew how to care for home buyers feeling these emotions. In a way, it was easy for him because he was hopeful person, always believing that the best was yet to come. While he, like all of us, struggled in tough times and reveled in good times, he knew the good or bad was just a passing event. Real success came from hard work and consistency.

So often when an important figure in our community dies, we say that his or her equal will not be seen again. Joe made sure we wouldn’t have to say that by leaving us his three daughters, who are well-prepared and are following in his footsteps.

Thanks, Joe, for showing us the way.
