(The following letter is meant as an open letter to New Britain residents.)
As we continue to respond to COVID-19 in a variety of ways, I write about an event that will not be cancelled or postponed.
I write about this year’s elections. Odd numbered years are generally known as municipal years in Connecticut’s election cycle. This year voters in Berlin and New Britain will choose their Mayors, Councilors, Board of Education members and other local elected officials. However, this year voters in New Britain and Berlin will be asked to choose their next Probate Judge.
In Berlin and New Britain there will be a Democratic primary on Tuesday, September 14 to elect the person who will be on the ballot in November as the Democratic candidate for Probate Judge.
I am voting for Attorney Robert A. Scalise Jr. on primary day September 14. The reasons Bob gets my vote are many. One is his unmatched qualifications. Bob has for the last 30 years practiced probate, estate planning, elder law and established trusts for many of his clients. He has handled hundreds of probate cases throughout the state. He is an active member of the Connecticut Bar Association Elder Law, Estates and Probate section. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Bob also writes a monthly column in local papers advising people on probate, estate planning and elder law.
Another reason I am voting for Attorney Robert A. Scalise Jr. on September 14 in the Democratic primary is he has given much to his community.
I was the Mayor of the City of New Britain four terms and during that time Bob served as chairman of New Britain’s Water Board. He successfully guided the construction of a $60 million water treatment facility that serves New Britain and parts of Berlin. He was on the Board of Directors of the Mattabassett District, which provides wastewater treatment services to both New Britain and Berlin. Bob has been Chair of the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, served as a corporator for the Hospital of Central Connecticut, The Hospital for Special Care, the Boys and Girls Club and was President of the Parish Council of Saint Ann’s Church.
I am voting for Attorney Robert A. Scalise Jr. in the Democratic primary on September 14 because of his passion and dedication to young people.
Once he established his law practice he began his work with youth. In 2004 he started coaching youth football with the PAL Raiders. In 2010 he joined the football coaching staff at New Britain High School, were he is currently the assistant head coach. He was one of the founding members of a football, dance and cheerleading program that serves between 250 and 300 children a year He continually takes players on college visits and guides college-bound students and their parents through the recruitment and college application process.
Bob has the knowledge, experience, compassion, community service needed to be a great Probate Judge. Please join me and vote for Attorney Robert A. Scalise Jr. on September 14 the Democratic Primary.
