To the Editor:
I am supporting Bobby Sanchez to be Mayor of New Britain in the November Election.
I have known Bobby for decades from his work with children and young families at HRA to his time on the Board of Education to his present position as a State Representative in Hartford. In all of these capacities, Bobby puts the people of New Britain first.
As the retired Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Business and Operations, I am well aware of the complexities of school building projects, especially how they are funded. In this arena, as Chair of the Education Committee, Bobby has been an outstanding advocate for New Britain.
His work at the State has made the renovations and new construction at Gaffney and Smalley a reality. But his best work for New Britain is coming in the total rebuild of Chamberlain School. The State reimburses the City for school construction. New Britain’s normal rate of reimbursement is 80%. For Chamberlain Bobby Sanchez was able to get the work done at a reimbursement rate of 95%. That is a savings to New Britain taxpayers of $7.5 million on this $50 million project.
Bobby Sanchez gets things done for New Britain and will continue to do so as your Mayor.
