To the Editor:

Wonderful memories of times gone by: It was with great sadness to read about Dorothy Sussman’s death.

I wonder if the family knew how much their grocery store meant to so many people that shopped there. For myself, it was a true treasure in New Britain. My husband, who had just returned from the Vietnam War and was raised in a small Vermont city truly enjoyed the small town atmosphere Sussman’s store offered.

The meat department had the best meat to buy in the city. I remember the young boys waiting to bring out your groceries and load them in your car.

My daughter worked at Sussman’s when she was in high school and she loved it.

To family members left behind, there are so many people who say thank you for the hard work you did to make people’s lives wonderful.
