To the Editor:
Earlier this year, the staff of South Church at 90 Main St. discovered damage to our roof. A flashing on the roof was partially displaced and disclosed a rotted beam underneath it.
It is never pleasant when you trying to maintain a church over 150 years old on a limited budget.
Thanks to the assistance of a Preservation Connecticut Maintenance and Repair Matching Grant, the roof is repaired. We also appreciate the letters of support from Mayor Erin Stewart and state Sen. Rick Lopez that made the grant possible.
