NEW BRITAIN - For more than seven decades, Polumbo’s Jewelers has offered customers quality jewelry and the type of personalized service at their 438 East St. store that has kept people coming time and time again.

“We’ve been here since 1945,” said Fred DiBattista, who took over the family business nine years ago after working there since 1964. “We’re the same people, in the same place. People trust us, that’s why they keep coming back. Our customers feel comfortable coming to our store.”

The store was named “Best of New Britain” from 2011 to 2017.

Polumbo’s Jewelers is a full-service jewelry store, DiBattista said. The establishment still does watch and jewelry repair and engraving on the premises, in addition to selling a complete line of gold and silver jewelry, Seiko, Pulsar and Belair watches.

“You can feel confident knowing that when you entrust the professionals at Polumbo’s Jewelers with all your jewelry repairs, you’ll always receive expertly done repairs at affordable prices and completed in a timely manner,” DiBattista said. “We have been servicing your jewelry needs for 70 years; your satisfaction is what drives us to be the very best jewelry store in the New Britain community,” he added.

Polumbo’s also buys gold, sterling silver, platinum, coins, flatware and hollowware. Customers can get jewelry for any special occasion including weddings, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, retirements or any other occasion. “You’ll appreciate the wide selection of premium jewelry and we have affordable prices with top notch service,” DiBattista said.

“We have six designer lines including Thortiuda (Angel Whisperer) sterling jewelry, Nicole Barr fine enameled sterling jewelry, Frederic Duclos, and Nomination, which is made in Italy,” DiBattista said.

At one time there were 12 jewelry stores in town, DiBattista said. “Because of our personalized service and excellent prices we have managed to outlive them all,” he said.

DiBattista has been in the family business for more than 50 years and is not ready to retire as of yet. His daughter, Dayna, now runs the business with him.

“Dayna and I are looking forward to 2017 and our seventy-second year,” he said.
