NEW BRITAIN - A tax and accounting firm that expanded from New Heaven to New Britain in 1958 in the Gates Building on Main Street, provides the same quality work and personal service to its customers today as it did when the firm first opened.
Now located at 35 Court St., Miller Moriarty & Company, LLC offers individuals, small businesses and large corporations with expert accounting and tax services. Currently, the firm is led by Justine Moriarty, who succeeded Frank R. Miller, as managing partner in the early 2000s.
“We strive to provide a personal touch with our clients by working with them, listening to them, guiding them as they work toward their goals,” said John Miller.
In addition to providing traditional tax and accounting services for individuals, trust and estates and businesses, Miller Moriarty & Company, LLC also provides business planning to achieve short-term/long-term goals, advice on when to hire staff, when to borrow money, when to expand operations, how to reach sales goals, manage expenses and inventory and advice on managing financial risks.
“We treat our clients’ businesses like they are our own businesses, so we get very invested in what they do, and how to do it better,” said Moriarty. “We don’t do just tax returns.”
The firm has a team of 18 with seven of them being certified public accountants. Some also have a special designation for trust and estate work, and younger staff are on track to be CPAs.
Frank R. Miller, who has been with the firm for more than 60 years, remains a valuable resource advisor for both the firm and its clients.
“We have an amazing team,” said Moriarty, which includes members who been with the firm for over 25 years and others who have joined more recently.
To stay with the times, the firm stays up to date on technology and provides services to meet any client’s needs.
“We have clients that prefer to interface with us the traditional ways and those who have adapted new technologies, so we stay current,” said Miller.
But the firm’s commitment isn’t just to its clients, both Moriarty and Miller are involved in the community as well.
Moriarty is a member of the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain and CCARC, a Rotarian and chairman of the Downtown District of New Britain.
Miller was a former president of the YMCA, former president of the New Britain Lions, a former chairman of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce and former chairman of the New Britain YWCA Board of Trustees. He still serves on the board of directors for the GNBCC, the New Britain YWCA Board of Trustees and a BNI Networking group out of Rocky Hill.
