HARTFORD - Combining over 80 years of family-owned experience with modern efficiency, there’s one transmission shop that operates above and beyond the competition.
Capitol Transmission, 29 Newfield Ave., is run by Paul Cordilico III, who took over the business in the 1990s after his father and grandfather had kept the business humming since 1934.
“We make it all about the customer,” said Cordilico, who added his background in market research helps run the business efficiently with respect to customer service. At the same time, his shop’s experienced technicians help ensure quality work every time.
Specializing in transmission and other car repairs, the shop with seven clean and organized garage bays, and six technicians, also does general automotive repairs to address any auto problem.
“It’s kind of like a specialist you would go to for a health issue,” said Cordilico, emphasizing his shop’s ability to do general repair but with the added expertise to work on undercar repairs.
There are two large garage bays with heightened ceilings to allow for work on trucks as well as cars.
“It’s a more modernized facility including our approach to the customer,” said Cordilico, adding mechanics will work on the cars as a separate team of employees are dedicated strictly to helping customers.
In a new facility, after a fire gutted the previous building at the same location in 2006, all the equipment is constantly updated. Technicians are certified and regularly trained by going to seminars and trade shows related to the industry.
“It’s imperative to keep up with the latest,” said Cordilico.
Evidence of the shop’s positive customer experience can be seen by its 5-star ratings from over 75 reviews on Google. The shop will use a mix of word-of-mouth referrals and online marketing to attract customers.
Cordilico said continuing to serve customers in a timely fashion with the focus on high quality will mean a successful future for Capitol Transmission.
“We’re a customer-focused operation,” said Cordilico. “They want to feel treated respectfully, that their listened to and paid attention to and that they’re spending their hard earned money in the right place.”
