NEW BRITAIN – With nearly 60 years of serving and supporting the New Britain community, the experienced and knowledgeable attorneys at Barbieri Law, LLC provide clients with personalized service to meet a wide variety of legal needs.

John Barbieri started his general practice firm, currently located at 18 Cedar St., in 1964. Today he is joined by his daughter, Claudia Barbieri, who came aboard 15 years ago, and paralegals Patricia Veits and Jennifer Smith, who have been with the firm for 51 years and 19 years, respectively.

“People who come to us for one legal matter and had a positive experience often refer friends and family members,” said Claudia Barbieri.

The team brings a wealth of experience to clients in then areas of bankruptcy, business organization, contract law, criminal law, DWI and traffic violations, motor vehicle accidents, personal injury, real estate law, wills, probate and estate administration and workers compensation.

“We have a really experienced team of people working for us,” said Barbeiri. “They have a deep knowledge of their areas of practice and always stay on top of any legal changes or changes in the process.”

The firm continues to remain accessible to clients throughout the pandemic via appointment. Barbieri Law, LLC, like many firms, has adjusted to serving their clients online, video conferencing with judges during pre-trials via Microsoft Teams. Bankruptcy cases, she added, are often handled over the phone now.

“We have adjusted to the times to meet our clients’ needs,” said Barbeiri.

One thing that has not changed, however, is Barbieri Law, LLC’s commitment to providing clients with personal service.

“We call people back and take the time to explain everything to our clients,” said Barbeiri. “Sometimes, people aren’t sure if they need an attorney and we give them the time to explain the situation. If it’s not the type of case that we handle, we can refer them to other attorneys that can help them. Either way, it’s usually good for them to get the information and to get their questions answered ahead of time.”

Over the years, Barbieri Law, LLC has continued to be involved in the New Britain community.

John and Claudia Barbieri are both members of the New Britain Bar Association. In 2019, the New Britain Bar Association awarded John Barbieri the President’s Award and Claudia Barbieri the Liberty Bell Award.

Both John and Claudia Barbieri said they feel it is important for them to be active members of the community and to give back to those in need.

“It is important to give back to people who are less fortunate than us,” John Barbieri said. “We get a lot of satisfaction from doing that; it’s very rewarding.”

Claudia Barbieri said she was raised by her father to share in these values.

“Community service and helping people who need help is important to us,” she said.

For the past 39 years, John Barbieri has chaired or co-chaired CCARC’s annual golf tournament fundraiser and that is continuing with the 51st annual tournament this year. CCARC is a local non-profit organization that provides opportunities for independence & personal growth for people with disabilities. The tournament has raised more than $1 million since its inception.

Claudia Barbieri has also served on the Board of Directors for the Prudence Crandall Center for 11 years, including 8 years as board president. The local non-profit center supports victims of domestic violence and provides emergency shelter for women and children who have been victimized. The organization also seeks to educate the community with the goal of reducing or eliminating domestic violence.

Barbieri said that Barbieri Law, LLC plans to continue to provide excellent service and support for the community going forward.

“We're going to keep continuing to do what works for us and our clients and we’re not slowing down,” she said.
