CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - A solo home run from Conor Bierfeldt and a two-run shot from Michael Crouse in the top of the second inning gave the Bees the lead for good as they earned an 8-2 victory on the road over the first place Long Island Ducks on Monday afternoon.

A three-run homer by Jamar Walton (4-for-5) in the fifth inning helped cement the victory for New Britain.

Nick Murphy made his first start for the Bees since Sept. 18 of last season, after playing for Traverse City Beach in the Frontier League. He had two hits, including an RBI single.

Bierfeldt’s home run was his 19th of the season, extending his franchise record for most home runs by a Bees player in a season.

Greg Nappo got the win, striking out eight batters over six innings.
