NEW BRITAIN - Greg Nappo threw a gem and Connor Bierfeldt stayed hot at the plate as the New Britain Bees cruised to a 5-2 victory over the Somerset Patriots on Thursday night.

Nappo pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up two earned runs. He struck out two. The five walks issued are worrisome but he was able to limit the damage.

Bierfeldt went 1-for-3 with a homer and drove in three runs.

In relief of Nappo were Casey Coleman and Shawn Gilblair. The combo combined for 2 2/3 perfect innings.

Michael Crouse and Jamar Walton each had multi-hit performances. Crouse was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Walton finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Jonathan Griffin, Jovan Rosa and Yusuke Kajimoto also had hits in the game for New Britain.

The win concludes the series with Somerset and the Bees will travel to Southern Maryland to take on the Blue Crabs in a weekend series.
