NEW BRITAIN - It appears the New Britain Bees dismal 2017 campaign will have some benefits after all.
After finishing the season with an Atlantic League worst 58-81 record, the Bees will have the first pick in Wednesday’s Dispersal Draft the league announced Monday afternoon.
The draft will be held at 10 a.m. for teams to obtain the 2018 negotiating rights to players who are currently controlled by the now defunct Bridgeport Bluefish. The draft will consist of three rounds with a fourth pick optional.
After New Britain, the Sugar Land Skeeters (67-73) will pick second after winning a coin flip against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (67-73). The York Revolution (68-72) will pick fourth, while the Long Island Ducks (73-67), Somerset Patriots (74-65) and Lancaster Barnstormers (76-54) will select fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
Any undrafted players will become free agents.
