NEW BRITAIN - With just two weeks until the start of the season, the Atlantic League teams are getting set for spring training.
The New Britain Bees released their spring training schedule Wednesday and will play six tune-up games before the start of the season on April 27. Of those six games, five will take place at New Britain Stadium.
“Spring is finally here and that means the official start to the 2018 season at New Britain Stadium,” Bees general manager Brad Smith said in a statement. “These spring training games we have scheduled will give all our fans a preview of what to expect this season.”
Of the six games, two will be against Atlantic League rival, the Long Island Ducks. The first will take place April 20 at home at 1 p.m., while the second will be at Long Island the next day with the time still to be announced.
The rest of the schedule includes games against the CT Twilight League on April 22 at 1 p.m., Milford Hunters on April 23 at 1 p.m. and concluding with two games against the Pennsylvania Road Warriors on April 24 and 25 at noon and 1 p.m. respectively.
The game against CT Twilight Zone features a Fan Fest Day promotion.
Gates will be open to fans one hour prior to the start time of each game. General admission is complimentary during exhibition play.
The Bees will also be available for a meet and greet, hosted by New Britain Elks Lodge, on Tuesday, April 24. The “Meet the Players” event will begin at 5 p.m. with an opportunity to meet players, a social hour at 6 p.m. and finally dinner at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at New Britain Stadium or Elks Lodge, which is located at 30 Washington St. in New Britain.
