NEW BRITAIN - With the game tied 2-2 in extra innings, New Britain Bees’ Jamar Walton stepped up to the plate with Reid Brignac and Jason Rogers on base.

Walton delivered a walk-off home run as New Britain beat the York Revolution 5-2 in the first half of the doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

The Bees were in the game throughout due in large part to the starting pitching performance of Kyle Simon, who pitched seven strong innings allowing two earned runs on six hits and struck out six.

Delbinson Romero had the other 2 RBI for the Bees.

In the second half of the doubleheader New Britain couldn’t get any offense going. The Bees had just three hits in the game against York’s Ross Detwiler. Romero had one hit, Jonathan Galvez had another and Vinny Siena added the third hit for New Britain.

Six different pitchers appeared in the game for New Britain - Sam Gervacio, Mike Hepple, Jim Fuller, Elvin Ramirez, Manny Delcarmen and Evan Scribner.

The Bees are now 6-15 following the two games.
