NEW BRITAIN - The New Britain Bees couldnâ€™t capitalize on the nine hits it had during the game.
But the Sugar Land Skeeters did just that scoring nine runs on nine hits en route to a 9-3 victory over New Britain Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Badamo got the start for the Bees and pitched five innings. He allowed eight hits and gave up seven runs, four earned. Badamo struck out three.
Deibinson Romero continued his strong season for the Bees. Romero went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI. With his day, Romero is now hitting .343 on the season, seventh best in the league. He also hit his fourth home run of the season.
Outside of Romeroâ€™s success, Brett Marshall, the Skeeters starting pitcher, was solid. He allowed seven hits, walked two and limited damage allowing just two runs.
Marshall struck out eight.
Kyle Winkler gave up the other run for Sugar Land, an RBI single to New Britainâ€™s Vinny Siena.
Darren Ford, Matt Tuiasosopo, Jonathan Galvez, Ozney Guillen and Reid Brignac added the other hits for New Britain.
Mike Hepple, Evan Scribner and Tyler Higgins all threw scoreless innings of relief for New Britain. Sugar Landâ€™s Albert Cordero and Derek Norris
both had multiple hit days.
Cordero, the No. 2 hitter, was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored, while Norris went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and 5 RBI.
Matt Chavez had a 2 RBI single for the Skeeters.
Adding the other hits for Sugar Land were Courtney Hawkins, Kyle Kubitza, Alvaro Rondon and Barrett Barnes. With the loss the Bees fell to 10-18 on the year, third place in the Liberty Division.
New Britain is 8 1/2 games back of the Somerset Patriots.
The Bees will host the Road Warriors on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.
