NEW BRITAIN - A group of avid cyclists are ready for summer weather, and they’d like residents of New Britain to join them in celebrating a two-wheel lifestyle.
Bike New Britain - a nonprofit group with a goal of promoting safe bicycling in the community - is holding an open house this evening from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Trinity-on-Main, 69 Main St.
“We’re trying to get New Britain area cyclists to come by, meet us, see what we’re up to and see if they want to be a part of what we do” said Mark Hoffman, a cyclist and member of Bike New Britain.
Hoffman told The Herald that Bike New Britain has been around for about three years and the organization recently became a 501(c) nonprofit.
The group of New Britain cyclists has hosted bike safety sessions and numerous tours and get-togethers in the city since they began.
Bike New Britain will participate in National Bike to Work Day on Friday morning, inviting cyclists to join the group for a free breakfast reception at Central Park from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
“We’re hoping to develop other events as the year goes on,” Hoffman told The Herald.
