High school health academy graduates 55 students

NEW BRITAIN - New Britain High School’s Health Academy celebrated its fifth graduating class Tuesday evening with a graduation ceremony at the high school.

55 students made up the academy’s graduating class and 24 qualified for academic cords - meaning they maintained an average of 85 percent of higher in at least three Health Academy Classes.

Daniella Markowski, a registered nurse, served as the keynote speaker of the night. According to information provided by the school district, Markowski graduated from NBHS in 2012 and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2016. Markowski was involved in the school’s Health Academy and currently works at Yale Health.

Michael Knight Zayas, lead teacher of the Health Academy, recognized the teachers for their work in the academy. The teacher presented certificates to 17 Junior Certified Nursing Assistants and the graduating seniors of the NBHS Health Academy.
