Annual meeting to discuss development from past year

NEW BRITAIN - The Downtown District next week will host its 33rd Annual Meeting, complete with a look back at developments in the past year and the election of new board members.

Gerry Amodio, in his seventh year as DD executive director, said the meeting will include reflections on the numerous projects undertaken and the businesses that have opened in the downtown region.

In his remarks, Amodio is also expected to note the activities of the Downtown District in the past year, including Hoops for Homeless, the annual car show and the Trick or Treat Safe Zone.

Local business leaders and property owners slated to be elected to the board of directors for a two-year term are Diane Eschner, Avner Krohn, Aaron Atwater, Dennis Morell, Shirley Perrin, Orson “Roy” Rothkopf, outgoing chairman Frank Shank and new vice chairman Leo Gagne.

The new board members join the seven in the midst of their term - secretary Steve Amato, James Calciano, Michael Schroeder, Harry Sitilides, John Glowka, new treasurer Attorney Ken Carifa and new chairperson Justine Moriarty.

The annual meeting will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on May 23 in the Timothy Stewart Community Room of the New Britain Police Department, 10 Chestnut St.
