NEW BRITAIN - Police are investigating a stabbing Sunday evening during a domestic dispute that left one person with serious injuries.

Officers were called to a Pennsylvania Avenue just after 7 p.m. and found the victim had been stabbed once in the upper chest and four times in the back, Police Capt. Thomas Steck said.

The victim and the suspect had gotten into a argument and the victim asked the other person to leave. The two are in a domestic relationship, police said.

Police are withholding any information on the victim and suspect.

The injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening, police said.

The suspect was found walking in the area after police arrived and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Police said they expect to make an arrest.
