NEW BRITAIN - Friday was the last day for the New Britain Herald staff on Court Street. Today, the newspaper is in its new offices at 1 Liberty Square.
“We had eight fine years at 1 Court Street,” said Publisher Michael E. Schroeder. “The new space will give us room to continue to grow and upgrade everything we do.”
This is the second time The Herald has changed locations. It moved from Herald Square to 1 Court St. six months after Central Connecticut Communications acquired The Herald and The Bristol Press in 2009.
Liberty Square is at the corner of Chestnut and Elm streets. The three-story, 92,842-square-foot building was built in 1988 by the Tomasso Brothers Co.
The paper will share the third floor with the McCue Mortgage Co..
All phone numbers and hours of operation will remain the same.
The Herald has never moved more than one-quarter of a mile from its original offices since its founding in 1880.
Schroeder said the new location will be a great place to reflect on all the improvements made in the quality of The Herald, both in print and online.
