NEW BRITAIN - The United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut has announced that Tim Stewart, president of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce and a former New Britain mayor, will be one of the tri-chairs of its annual Community Campaign.

“I look forward to continuing Greater New Britain and Berlin’s long-standing partnership with United Way. United Way cares about what you and I care about, and they’re going to take a stand for it along with us,” Stewart said.

The Community Campaign gives people the opportunity to donate to qualified nonprofit agencies.

“I’m delighted we have not one, not two, but three individuals who have stepped up to lead the charge to help raise dollars in support of health and human services provided by our nonprofit community,” said Paula Gilberto, president and CEO of the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. “Each is a leader in his or her own region, knowing firsthand the value of community service and community leadership.”

Provide the tri-chairs leadership and guidance will be cabinet members including New Britain School Superintendent Nancy Sarra and Jason Howey, president of Okay Industries in New Britain.
