NEW BRITAIN – It’s Election Day and there are still about four hours left until polls close.

Democratic and Republican supporters are spread out at the city’s 15 polling places, hoping to sway any on the fence voters their way.

Lourdes Nunez, a poll worker at Slade Middle School (Ward 1, District 15), said the election location had been pretty busy, save for a few lulls.

“We even had a few people waiting before 6 a.m.,” Nunez told The Herald around 3 p.m.

This is the first election poll workers are using Poll Pad, a technology-based system that makes monitoring voter check-in easier. Nunez said the rollout of the technology has been smooth at Slade.

“It’s very easy, a three-year-old could do it,” Nunez joked.

Polls are still open until 8 p.m.

Check back for updates and results later this evening.
