NEW BRITAIN - The New Britain Artists’ Cooperative hosts another Open Mic Night on Thursday, Nov. 16, with host Tre Brown.

Brown was born and still lives in New Britain. While growing up and serving in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, he developed a passion for writing poetry.

Last month, Brown released his first book of poetry, “A Soliloquy To My Past Life: A Collection of Poetry and Journal Entries,” which he dedicated to the memory of his sister, Virginia “Jenny” Brown, who died unexpectedly in March.

He is working on his next project, which is expected to be released on April 12, 2018.

The Open Mic Night will run from 6-9 p.m. at the Artists’ Co-op at 66 W. Main St., and is free to attend and perform.

Instrumentalists, singers, dancers, storytellers, poets and others of all ages are encouraged to share their talents.

Djlid, a disc jockey, will also be present to keep the beats flowing all night long.

Angie DeRosa can be reached at 860-801-5063 or aderosa@centralctcommunications.com.
