NEW BRITAIN - With seven new aldermen elected last week, Wednesday’s Common Council meeting will be a time for leadership announcements, committee assignments and other housekeeping.

Meeting for the first time since the Nov. 7 election, the Common Council will elect a president pro tempore, the chief leadership position on the council.

The Republican and Democratic caucuses will also announce their minority and majority leaders, respectively. Aldermen will also be given their committee and liaison assignments, and the clerk of committees will be appointed.

The rest of Wednesday’s agenda is relatively light.

The council will hear a petition from Mony Tith of American Muffler and Brake Shop, LLC, asking for a certificate of location approval to allow a motor vehicle repairer’s license at 770 West Main St.

The council may also authorize a purchase order of $8,300 to WatchGuard Video for annual maintenance to the Police Department’s in-car video camera systems.
