NEW BRITAIN - Pastor Gladys Gonzalez of Ebenezer Church on Allen Street is hosting a three-day event Dec. 8-10 aimed at helping women in crisis.

“Survivor” (“Sobreviviente,” in Spanish) is geared toward providing women in crisis examples of people who have made it through hard times to go on to a joyful life, Gonzalez said.

The program kicks off Friday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. at the Pentecostal Church at 517 Farmington Ave. The event continues Saturday at the Pentecostal Church from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Church.

Throughout the weekend, women who have been in crisis and survived will speak. Some of the program will focus on domestic violence, with speakers from the Prudence Crandall Center attending on Saturday, Gonzalez said.

Breakfast will be served Saturday morning. The event is free and no registration is required.

Gonzalez is collecting items including lipstick and gloves to present to the women who come.

Anyone interested in donating can call Gonzalez at 860-890-1393.
