NEW BRITAIN - The city will dive into the holiday season this week when its Christmas tree is lit in Central Park.

The annual ceremony will take place from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The 40-foot-tall artificial tree was purchased in 2015.

DJ Maciah “MDotLive” Clark will provide holiday tunes along with the Main Street Children’s Choir. The YWCA Dance Club will perform a dance medley from its Christmas show

Complimentary hot chocolate and Dunkin’ Munchkins, donated by Dunkin’ Donuts on Main Street, will be handed out. Staff from the New Britain Parks & Recreation Department will help hand out the treats.

North Pole elves from the YWCA House of Teens and Strive program and Mayor Erin Stewart will help Santa Claus light the tree and hand out presents to all the children.

For more information on the ceremony, call the New Britain Visitors Center at 860-229-0878.
