NEW BRITAIN – Two women were arrested and police are investigating one of their boyfriend’s after a second male was stabbed during a melee between the four late Wednesday.

Police were called to South High Street at around 10:30 p.m. and found a male with a stab wound, Capt. Thomas Steck said. The male was taken to an area trauma center for treatment. He is in stable condition and the wound is not life-threatening, Steck said.

An investigation revealed that the two women had an argument on Facebook and then agreed to meet on South High Street to physically fight, Steck said. The women showed up with their boyfriends and all four engaged in a physical confrontation, he said. One of the boyfriends allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the other boyfriend during the fight, Steck said. The boyfriend who pulled out the knife fled before police arrived.

The two women were taken into custody and charged with breach of peace. Their names were not available Thursday afternoon. Police are still investigating the stabbing, Steck said.
