Open Mic artist's message is positivity

NEW BRITAIN - The first Artists’ Cooperative’s Open Mic of 2018 will be on Thursday, Jan. 18, hosted by R&B and hip-hop artist Lefty.

Edwin Yearwood - formerly known as Songs - is an artist from New Britain who says he tries to spread positivity in the community through uptempo R&B.

He has been making music for eight years, but it was not until 2016 that he began taking it more seriously.

Lefty’s message is to not let anyone judge you and to be happy with yourself. Those are the two things that he said is all that matters.

DJ Soul Selektah will also be taking part in the event.

Open Mic is a free community event open to performers and spectators of all ages. Instrumentalists, singers, dancers, storytellers, poets and others are all welcome.
