NEW BRITAIN - The New Britain Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is now accepting applications for 2018 summer employment.
The department is seeking summer staff in three areas: aquatics, summer camps and specialty programs. Aquatics positions include pool managers, swim instructors, and lifeguards. Summer camp positions include site supervisors, assistant site supervisors, and group leaders. Specialty programs include seasonal clerical staff and theatre instructors.
“During the summer time, our Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of employment opportunities for our city’s youth. These jobs offer a steady pay check and more importantly: lifelong lessons that help individuals to grow and be successful in life,” Mayor Erin Stewart said as she announcing the openings.
Candidates for summer camp positions should show passion for or have experience working with youth in out-of-school settings.
Candidates interested in aquatics positions should show interest in water activities including swimming, and know how to swim. Lifeguard certification is required before hiring.
All job candidates must turn in an application packet with the following items: a New Britain employment application, supplemental questions and a letter of recommendation from a person who can attest to the candidate’s work and character.
Candidates must also sign up for and take a summer employment test (dates supplied in the application packet). Complete applications and employment tests will be reviewed and considered for candidate interviews.
Application packets can be found in the Parks & Recreation Office, Room 302 of City Hall, or downloaded at www.nbparksnrec.org . The application deadline for summer employment is 3:45 p.m. Friday, March 16, for all aquatics, camp and specialty program applicants.
City Hall is at 27 W. Main St.
