'Brackets for Good' competition for nonprofits returns

NEW BRITAIN - The first round of Connecticut’s Brackets for Good tournament begins at 8 p.m. today, and several New Britain-based organizations are vying for support.

The tournament’s is staged to increasing awareness of non-profit organizations through an online fundraising competition.

Each week of the tournament, two nonprofits will be pitted against each other and whichever receives more donations that week advances to the next round. The nonprofit that wins in the championship week, from April 3-6, will receive a $10,000 prize in addition to the money raised weeks before.

Among the nonprofits in the tournament are New Britain-based Community Mental Health Affiliates, Connecticut Breast Health Initiative, Human Resources Agency of New Britain and Pathways/Senderos Center.
