NEW BRITAIN - New Britain Elks Lodge No. 957’s annual Irish Night celebration has been rescheduled for next week.

The event is now scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the lodge, 30 Washington St.

This year, the Elks Lodge will be honoring a New Britain veteran. The Irishman of The Year award will be presented to Brig. Gen. Ralph F. Hedenberg, director of joint staff for the Connecticut National Guard.

Hedenberg, a New Britain native, is a University of Connecticut graduate who has earned advanced degrees from the U.S. Army War College and the Naval Post Graduate School.

Mayor Erin Stewart, an Elk herself, will attend as an honored guest.

The cost is $15 per person, with a first-responder discount of $10 per person or $15 per couple. Identification is required. Tickets can be bought at the door or in advance at the lodge’s beverage service area from 3 p.m. to closing.
