BRISTOL - A New Britain man has been charged with robbing a Bristol sandwich shop.
Phiron Mann, 34, allegedly demanded cash from the register at Subway and implied that he had a weapon on him on March 12, at about 8:43 p.m. The cashier, who was not injured, asked the suspect if he was serious.
Mann, police allege, said “yeah” and moved his hand into his pocket as though he was going to pull out a weapon. The cashier then handed over about $230 from the register, and the suspect took off.
Two days later, Mann was charged with robbing a doughnut shop in West Hartford. The clothing he was wearing, the warrant said, appeared to be the same attire the suspect was wearing in the Bristol robbery.
Additionally, the Subway employee who was robbed saw Mann’s photo in an area newspaper about the West Hartford robbery. He said he was 100 percent sure Mann was the suspect in the Bristol robbery.
Mann was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree larceny. He is being held on $20,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on July 20.
