NEW BRITAIN  – After a long day of classes and assignments, many Central Connecticut State University students need a pick-me-up.

For most, this includes a late-night snack through a local take-out restaurant or a call for delivery.

Finding restaurants open late at night in the New Britain area can be a bit difficult, with very few options for students to choose from.

A popular choice for students is Domino’s Pizza.

Located right down the street from the university, Domino’s will satisfy your unhealthy, greasy food cravings, delivers and is open until 2 a.m. every day.

Domino’s is located at 1523 Stanley St. Suite B in New Britain.

Most other restaurants in the area are only open until 10 or 11 p.m., which limits students’ food options late at night.

There are a few possible late-night options located in the plaza at the intersection of Stanley Street and Paul Manafort Drive in New Britain.

There is a Dunkin Donuts, a Subway, a Chinese take-out restaurant, Tony’s Central Pizza and more.

Most shops in the plaza close by 10 p.m., which is an inconvenience to many students who prefer to order food in the later hours of the night.

CCSU students Melissa Schuberth and Jessica Paolino said when they want food late at night, they make their way to the Town Line Diner in Rocky Hill at 80 Town Line Rd.

The diner is open 24 hours a day and offers many options including breakfast, burgers, milkshakes, wraps, appetizers and more.

Romario Luari, manager at Town Line Diner, informed that many students typically come to the diner between 7 and 9 p.m. and then after 1 a.m.

“Townline is our favorite spot,” Paolino said.

Even though the diner is a 20-minute drive from the university, Paolino and Schuberth said it is “worth the drive.”

Schuberth said that other places she goes at night are McDonald’s and Cumberland Farms, both within a 10 minute drive from CCSU.

Cumberland Farms is located at 194 East St. in New Britain and is open until 11 p.m. while McDonald’s is open until midnight and located at 635 Hartford Rd.

A popular choice for pizza delivery that students often choose is Nick’s Pizza.

Nick’s Pizza is open until 2 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and open until 1 a.m. every other day of the week.

Restaurant owner Foneo Fang said that the majority of people who come to their restaurant either order delivery or take out.

Fang says that students who live off campus are the most frequent visitors, as the restaurant is located about half a mile from the university.

Wing It On!, a restaurant located in the plaza right across the street from the university, recently welcomed a new management team.

The restaurant is now offering later hours, a new menu and more guest engagement.

The restaurant, now owned by Tahir and Rehan Aziz, is open during the summer from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

When fall comes around, the restaurant will be open from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. with dine-in and take-out options.

Staff and leadership at Wing It On! are already working with the Franchise Operations and Marketing team to rebrand their building signs and dining area, implement new menu items and properly train their staff on ways to reduce order turnaround time, according to their press release.

“The New Britain store is certainly one of the most visited and influential locations for our emerging brand,” Justin Egan, Head of Marketing at Wing It On! said in a press release.

“Students of CCSU are exposed to Wing It On! during their four years at school. We’re grateful when they choose WIO and hope to set the standard for what great buffalo quality wings should taste like, so they’ll remember our brand as they move around the state,” the press release said.

For CCSU students looking for a late-night snack to satisfy their cravings, Wing It On!, Town Line Diner, Nick’s Pizza and Domino’s are among the top contenders in the area.
