Super cars to be superstars of next Klingberg Family Centers show

NEW BRITAIN - Klingberg Family Centers will be hosting another of its much anticipated motorcar shows Saturday, Sept 21, from 9 a.m. to noon.

It will take place on the Klingberg campus.

“Our events raise vital funding for programs serving children and families throughout Connecticut,” said Mark Johnson, vice president of Klingberg Family Centers.

The show will feature over 30 antique cars from 1979 and earlier, including a 1903 Pope-Hartford, the super car of its day. In addition to the traditional cars, there will be a special Concorso display of today’s super cars, from Ferraris to Lamborghinis.

“We also, aim to bring families together around the common experience of cars and to encourage the future of the automobile hobby,” said Johnson.

The Klingberg Motorcar Series Hall of Honor will be honoring 14 people who spent most of their lives working with automobiles and left a legacy of restoring or collecting antique automobiles.

TV personality Wayne Carini of “Chasing Classic Cars” will be present as a grand marshal along with his guest, Mike Brewer of “Wheeler Dealer.” They will bring two vintage super cars from the Carini Collection, mingle with car owners and spectators, and award trophies at the end of the morning.

Spectators will be able to visit the Klingberg history museum and hear stories by the host, Marjorie LaPierre, about her experiences growing up at Klingberg Children’s Home.

The event will also, highlight Klingberg’s Extended Day Treatment program, which provides therapeutic after school services for young children.

Spectators can enjoy coffee and breakfast from The Toasted Food Truck, enjoy family lawn games, crafts, face painting, the popular scavenger hunt and an inflatable climbing wall known as Vertical Rush.”

Sponsors include TD Bank, American Eagle and iHeart Media .

“We are grateful for the dozens of corporate sponsors who support this work through multiple sponsorship levels,” said Johnson.

General admission is $10, seniors 65 and older $8, children under 12 free.

Free parking will be available on Klingberg’s campus, 370 Linwood St.
