Free training for culinary arts at OICNB

NEW BRITAIN - The Opportunities Industrialization Center of New Britain, Inc. is offering free certification for Culinary Arts Training. Youths ages 18 to 24 can apply. Interested applicants must be either a high school graduate or out-of-school youth who will earn their GED or high school diploma by January 2020.

Upon completion, participants will receive a Serv-Safe Certification, Bartending Certification and Food Preparation Certification. They will also receive a 120 hour paid internship placement.

The certification program will begin Tuesday, Oct. 1 and will run until Dec. 20. Classes are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Starting Nov. 1, there will also be class on Monday.

Call OICNB at 860-224-7151 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to enroll. For any additional information ask for Ms. Pendelton or Mr. Chamberlin.

There will be another round of training next spring, starting in February. This is an opportunity to begin a career in the food industry. The program is funded by Capital Workforce Partners, Inc.
