26-year-old New Britain resident shot mulptile times, receives non-life threatening injuries

NEW BRITAIN – A 26-year-old New Britain resident was shot multiple times Wednesday afternoon, according to a release from New Britain police.

Police responded to the area of Grand and Prospect streets for a report of shots fired around 4:43 p.m., the release said.

Responding officers soon determined that the victim was shot multiple times, which resulted in non-life threatening injuries, the release said. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating the incident and said anyone with information regarding it is asked to call Lt. Butkiewicz at 860-826-3131 or call the police tip line at 860-826-3199.

Police Chief Chris Chute said the department had no further information when they sent the release out Wednesday around 6:15 p.m. He did not immediately return a request for further comment.
