Two injured in Tremont Street basement fire that causes extensive damage

NEW BRITAIN – Three people managed to escape after a fire broke out in the basement of 101 Tremont Street in New Britain Wednesday.

Two of the three in the building at the time were transported to the hospital of minor injuries.

The fire started in the basement and caused extensive damage to that area. There was also smoke and heat damage throughout the rest of the building.

The fire marshal’s office has been called in to investigate the cause.

The families in the building will be displaced and Red Cross has been contacted to help with that process.
