Cold snap hits region, temps dip overnight

At noon Friday Gov. Ned Lamont’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol was activated and warmng centers across the state were opened to accomodate those who needed a place to escape the brutally cold weather.

According to WFSB-TV, temperatures on Friday, which reached the mid 20s, were expected to fall to about 6 degrees overnight. A steady wind accompanied the temperature drop.

The forecast called for a quick rebound with highs reaching the low 30s on Saturday and the mid 40s by Sunday.
