At noon Friday Gov. Ned Lamontâ€™s Severe Cold Weather Protocol was activated and warmng centers across the state were opened to accomodate those who needed a place to escape the brutally cold weather.
According to WFSB-TV, temperatures on Friday, which reached the mid 20s, were expected to fall to about 6 degrees overnight. A steady wind accompanied the temperature drop.
The forecast called for a quick rebound with highs reaching the low 30s on Saturday and the mid 40s by Sunday.
