NEW BRITAIN – Nicholas Wills, a Board Certified Hearing Aid Specialist and New Britain resident, has started a company that provides access to the latest in cutting-edge hearing health solutions.
Home Hearing is located at 71 Raymond Road in West Hartford.
“I chose that location because I’m primarily a mobile business. I go around repairing people’s hearing aids; I test their ears for wax, do a hearing exam in their homes, so I wanted something central to the areas I wanted to work in, such as Hartford, the Farmington Valley, New Britain, Newington, those types of areas,” Wills said. “I chose that specific office because it was a new setup in a lovely area, across from Whole Foods, so it was easy for people to get to.”
Home Hearing’s goal is to maximize its patient’s hearing health in the comfort of the patient’s own home or the company’s new office.
“Our clients are truly treated like family. And Home Hearing is the leading hearing evaluation and hearing aid service center,” Wills said.
Wills stated it was tricky trying to start up the business back in March in the wake of a pandemic.
“Just when I started up and started advertising the virus kicked in, which messed things up because no one wanted to make appointments or see doctors or anything like that, so I had to put things on hold,” Wills said. “So instead of selling things I advertised services for free. I would go around and repair people’s hearing aids; I’d pick them up from their homes, repair it and return it to them. Otherwise they would have to wait months to get them repaired. So I did that a couple of months and that actually turned out good because it got me a lot of referrals and grew my name around the area.”
Wills currently does not have any other employees and all of the equipment he uses is mobile.
Originally from England, Wills came to the United States in 2007 and is a New Britain resident. He worked for Miracle Ear for 13 years as a hearing aid specialist.
“I became a proud citizen of the United States in 2019 and this inspired me to experience the full land of opportunity effect and set about starting up my own business,” Wills said.
