NEW BRITAIN -- State police are seeking witnesses to a crash over the weekend in New Britain that killed a Bristol woman.

On Tuesday, state police said the accident occurred Saturday, around 12:44 p.m., on Route 72, near the Exit 8 off ramp. There, two vehicles were each heading east, adjacent to one another, when the driver of one of the vehicles made contact with the other “in a sideswipe manner” for “reasons still under investigation,” according to state police.

Following the collision, four individuals were taken to area hospitals, and the vehicles were towed.

State police said a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner contacted a trooper on Monday to report that an individual involved in the accident, identified as Bristol resident Concetta Rodriguez, 65, was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital.

According to state police, Rodriguez was driving the car that was sideswiped. The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or was driving in the area with dashcam footage has been asked to contact Trooper First Class John Wilson at 860-534-1098 or john.wilson@ct.gov.
