NEW BRITAIN – Mayor Erin Stewart, Parks and Recreation and Community Services Department will be hosting the first annual Christmas Tree Drawing Contest.

“We’re very excited to add another component to our local New Britain holiday festivities,” Stewart said.

For a chance to enter the contest and win the opportunity to receive a special invitation to join Stewart Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and receive a $100 gift card to Amato’s Toy & Hobby, residents must follow these simple steps.

Start by drawing your best and most creative picture of the New Britain Downtown Christmas Tree. With the picture, include your name, age and phone number. Finally, take a picture of the Christmas tree drawing and email it to parksnrec@newbritainct.gov by Tuesday, Nov. 24.

“This is a great opportunity for residents all across New Britain to showcase their artistic talent, highlight our beautiful downtown and portray the Christmas spirit,” Stewart said. “I look forward to reviewing all of our entries and sharing the special tree lighting moment with our winner.”

All participants are also encouraged to submit their original drawings to the New Britain Parks and Recreation Office at 27 West Main St., Room 302 to be featured on display in the City Hall skywalk or throughout the building.
