NEW BRITAIN – The Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce virtually held its Board of Directors meeting along with the 107th Annual Meeting of the group Thursday morning.
One of the highlights of the meeting was naming The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain the Non-Profit Organization of the Year Award.
“On behalf of everyone at the Community Foundation, I just want to say that we are so thankful to be recipients of the Non-Profit Organization of the Year Award,” Kayla Smith said. “You know, 2020 has thrown us for a loop, especially local businesses and nonprofits, and throughout the pandemic, the Community Foundation has been proud to support the community as best we can, from partnering with OKAY Industries and the New Britain School District to providing thousands of face shields to first responders, to our covid emergency grants, which allowed many nonprofits to keep its doors open. So it was really a no-brainer for our grants committee and our board of directors to support the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce as well as it continues to provide relevant and essential programming and info to help strengthen the community amidst the pandemic during such unprecedented times.”
