NEW BRITAIN – Several new covid-19 cases were confirmed by New Britain schools late Friday, but no classroom or school closure was needed because of the new cases.

On Friday, the district was notified that a member of the DiLoreto Elementary and Middle School community was tested positive for the virus. The person was last at the school on Nov. 12 and will isolate for 10 days.

The city’s Public Health Department determined that the person was not at the school during the contagious period, therefore it was decided that no classroom or school closure was needed.

Also Friday, a member of the New Britain High School community was tested positive and the person was last at the school on Nov. 17. While it was determined that no classroom or school closure was needed, all New Britain High School students will move to remote learning through Thanksgiving break due to shortages with the non-certified staff.

A member of the Vance Elementary School community was tested positive for covid-19 and will remain in isolation for 14 days. The person was last at the school on Nov. 13.

After further investigations, the Public Health Department determined that the person was not at the school during the contagious period. Because of the circumstances, the district said no classroom or school closure was needed.
