NEW BRITAIN – An elderly woman is recovering from minor injuries after a fire tore through her home Sunday.
New Britain Fire Department received a call around 12:15 p.m. to a raised ranch at 90 Batterson Dr.
“The fire started in the kitchen,” New Britain Fire Chief Raul Ortiz told the Herald. “We had it under control pretty quickly, within 15 minutes to a half hour.”
One resident, an elderly female, was transported to the hospital for minor burns and smoke inhalation. The house is uninhabitable at this point and the resident is being assisted with temporary housing.
