With locations in New Britain and Bristol, CW Resources helps connect individuals with challenges to area employers.

The nonprofit was founded in 1964 and aims to help those with mental or physical disabilities, as well as the economically disadvantaged, find employment. The group also helps with vocational training in addition to employment opportunities.

Many positions fall in the areas of janitorial, receptionist, manufacturing, landscaping and food service. CW Resources is headquartered in New Britain, at 200 Myrtle St., and has a location in Bristol, at 530 Birch St.

One of the nonprofit’s motto’s is “Empowerment through employment,” according to its website.

“With the national unemployment rate for people with disabilities exceeding 70%, finding work doesn’t just happen,” CW states on its website. “It is the result of the hard work and commitment of people who see the value in work, who see the value in human life and work hard to make bring the employee and employer together.”

Staff at CW Resources is tasked with helping promote the skills and capabilities of people with disabilities to penetrate the job market.

“Networking and making connections is the key to successful job development efforts,” CW states on its website. “Efforts to meet individual interests and abilities are underscored by the various work opportunities we offer and seek. Our staff strives to find employment which matches each person’s interests and abilities and to offer individuals with customized support plans to maximize employment retention.”

CW Resources also offers volunteer and internship opportunities.

“We welcome you to visit one of our programs, work centers, senior centers or headquarters for a tour and explanation of our organization so we may be able to design an opportunity for you,” the nonprofit states. “We can work with colleges and universities to established internships to compliment coursework and provide an experiential learning opportunity.”
