NEW BRITAIN – The Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce is launching a new program called the Chamber Shuffle aiming to begin on Monday, Sept. 13.

“The focus of it is to drive customers to our members’ local businesses,” said Bill Moore, chamber president.

To participate, customers need to go to a chamber member’s business, take a selfie photo inside and either scan the QR Code, which will send an email to the chamber, or send the image to

“It could be a restaurant, retail or whatever your member might be, but they have to put the name of the business and they can’t be employees,” Moore said. “If the business is a secured facility, they can stand outside and take a picture by the name of the business – we would certainly accept that as an entry. Some of our members may not want people coming in and taking pictures due to the nature of their business.”

On the last Friday of each month, the chamber will have a drawing and the winning customer will receive a gift card to a local business.

“They can submit as many as they want in different businesses,” Moore said. “And whichever business gets the most visitors each month will also get a gift card.”

Photo winners will be posted on the chamber’s social media sites and weekly newsletters.

For the last several months the chamber’s business development committee has been working on the program.

“We have several committees and this one is cheered by Don Sagarino,” Moore said. “Working with our new director of marketing in eCommerce, Catherine D’Orbilliers, she came up with the concept and we worked it through our committee and they gave the official approval in the August meeting.”

The Chamber Shuffle program will keep running as long as it remains successful in helping to bring people into member’s businesses.
