NEW BRITAIN – The Consolidated School District of New Britain announced updated quarantine guidelines for students.

The CSDNB will be making adjustments to the district’s quarantine procedure for students in accordance with Center for Disease Control (CDC) and State Department of Public Health guidelines. In conjunction with the New Britain Public Health Department, the school district announced the quarantine procedure for students who “have been identified as close contacts with someone who has tested positive for the covid-19 virus.”

According to a statement released, the CSDNB outlined parameters for students who travel or are in close contact with someone with covid. Parents must submit the students name, date tested, and the name and testing laboratory performing the test. The school requires that results be submitted within 72 hours (three days) of the test administration date.

A student cannot end quarantine until a negative test is received, even if they’ve quarantined for seven days. Students can return after negative test results are provided to the schools and verbal reports or home tests will not be accepted. Students who have tested positive in the past 90 days do not need to quarantine but must provide proof of a positive covid-19 test.
