NEW BRITAIN - The crafty and creative creations of Senior Center members will be up for sale Friday, Dec. 10.
The New Britain Senior Center’s Annual Holiday Bazaar is set to take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the facility at 55 Pearl St.
“We have about a dozen crafters that have spent the year crafting a variety of items like gloves, hats, mittens, sweaters, blankets and quilts,” Senior Center Director Rex Cone told the Herald. “This is our most anticipated fundraiser of the year.”
Along with the crafts for sale, the center also bakes over 100 apple pies and these traditional holiday desserts are sold as supplies last.
“The apple pies are a huge draw for the event,” Cone said. “Former Senior Center Director, Mike Karwan, is coming back to help out and the seniors work together the day before to get all the apple pies peeled, dough rolled out and baked.”
At $3 a pie, these homemade treats are expected to fly off the shelves.
Area businesses, local residents and fellow community organizations have donated prizes to be raffled off during the Bazaar.
These include gift cards and gift baskets as well as other highly-sought-after items for sale this holiday season. The raffle drawing will take place at the end of the event.
Lunch will also be sold. Meatball subs, hot dogs and cabbage soup will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. People can also enjoy slices of apple pie and ice cream for dessert.
