New Britain Museum of American Art will be hosting Nor'Easter: The 52nd Annual Juried Members Exhibition

NEW BRITAIN - The New Britain Museum of American Art will be hosting Nor’Easter: The 52nd Annual Juried Members Exhibition and is thrilled to announce the full roster of accepted artists and works.

The upcoming Nor’Easter will take place from August 11 to 28. The showcase in the Northeast region highlights the work of emerging and established artists in all media.

There will be five prizes awarded including first, second, third, the Juror’s Award and the Visitors’ Choice.

This year’s juror was Anna Swinbourne, PhD, Executive Director and CEO of Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington. She is a Trustee of Hill-Stead Museum and member of the Art Advisory Committee of the King Baudouin Foundation United States. Ms. Swinbourne is also an independent art historian, curator, and art advisor engaged in a variety of publication, exhibition, and art-market endeavors. Her current and recent projects include a collection catalogue for the late David Rockefeller; an exhibition on Paul Cézanne landscapes for Princeton University Art Museum in 2020; and with honorary co-chairs, Agnes Gund and Oprah Winfrey, the first-ever, all-female benefit auction at Sotheby’s New York on March 1, 2019, to support financial aid at Miss Porter’s School.

The New Britain Museum of American Art also uses the Nor’Easter as an opportunity to expose contemporary visual arts to a wide audience. The Museum located on 56 Lexington St. is the first institution dedicated solely to acquiring American art. NBMAA provides exciting and relatable exhibitions that help bring a little bit more information and beauty to the community and the world. They also, provide programs and free low cost art classes after school for children.
